Mission
We are called to be a Bible-based, loving, celebrating, welcoming church family living out together the way of Jesus. Leading people to Jesus and helping them to follow Him.
What We Believe
The Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God, inerrant in the original manuscripts.
There is one God, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Jesus Christ is the only Savior, and the only way to salvation and everlasting life. We believe in His
deity, as well as His virgin birth, death, resurrection, ascension, and imminent return.
Salvation is by grace through faith in the blood atonement of Christ, through the repentance of sins.
The Biblical account of creation and all other supernatural acts of God recorded in the Scriptures are
true.
Man was created a moral free agent and remains so all the days of his life, with the God-given
freedom to choose or reject God throughout one’s life.
The believer can be cleansed from all sin through the sanctifying power of the blood of Christ and
the work of the Holy Spirit.
There is to be a resurrection of both the saved and the lost: the saved to eternal life and the lost to
eternal damnation.
We believe in and practice two sacraments – baptism (choice of mode) and the Lord’s Supper.

Missed a Message?
Worship at Arcadia Methodist Church is a time to encounter God together in a meaningful and life-giving way. Through vibrant worship music, heartfelt prayer, and biblically rooted messages, we create space to draw near to God and be transformed by His presence. Each service is designed to encourage, challenge, and equip you to live out your faith throughout the week—no matter where you are on your journey.

History
Arcadia Methodist Church, established in 1887 with its current building from 1930 and a 1997 addition including a fellowship hall, upholds original Methodist doctrine and belongs to the Association of Independent Methodists (AIM). Despite weathering many changes in the last few years, the congregation’s strength is evident in our continued ministry to one another and the wider community. Known for our supportive nature, the church fosters strong relationships, drawing newcomers into a valued and connected atmosphere.
Meet our team

Jon Barsness
Pastor
Jon Barsness is a pastor at heart — called to shepherd people toward a deeper life with Christ and to help the church become a community shaped by God’s presence.
His journey into pastoral ministry has been marked by a growing conviction that the gospel is not merely information to believe but a life to be lived together. Through years of studying Scripture, walking with believers in seasons of joy and suffering, and serving in leadership within both church and workplace settings, Jon has sensed a clear and steady call: to preach the Word faithfully, to disciple intentionally, and to love people patiently.
Pastor Jon’s theological formation has deepened his love for the grand story of Scripture and the mission of God. He is especially drawn to preaching that connects biblical truth to everyday life, helping people see how Christ meets them in their questions, doubts, and longings. He believes transformation happens not through programs but through relational discipleship, Spirit-led community, and steady teaching over time.
Jon cares deeply about forming churches where worship is wholehearted, prayer is central, Scripture is honored, and people are equipped to follow Jesus in their homes, workplaces, and neighborhoods. He longs to help congregations grow in both depth and love — rooted in truth, marked by grace.
He and his wife, Anna, have been married for over twenty years and are grateful parents to their son, Ethan. As a family, they desire to serve with humility, warmth, and a deep dependence on Christ, trusting that the Lord builds His church.
Ministries
Kids In Christ (KIC) – Wednesdays 6:30pm at Arcadia Methodist Church is a vibrant, Christ-centered ministry dedicated to helping children (PK-6) know, love, and follow Jesus. Through engaging Bible teaching, interactive activities, and meaningful relationships, KIC creates a safe and joyful environment where kids can grow in their faith and discover their identity in Christ. Our mission is to partner with families to build a strong spiritual foundation—equipping the next generation to live out God’s Word with confidence, compassion, and purpose.
Kids in Christ (KIC) is one of our best outreaches for children in our community. Held every Wednesday night, this program welcomes 25-35 children.
Youth in Christ (YIC) – 3rd Wednesday of Every Month 6:30pm
Youth In Christ (YIC) at Arcadia Methodist Church is a dynamic ministry for students in 7th–12th grade, designed to help teens grow in their faith and live it out in everyday life. Through biblical teaching, authentic community, and real conversations, YIC creates a space where students can ask questions, build lasting friendships, and encounter Jesus in a meaningful way. Our heart is to equip the next generation to stand firm in their identity in Christ, navigate life with wisdom, and boldly live out their faith in their schools, homes, and communities.
Men’s Ministry at Arcadia Methodist Church is a place where men are challenged and encouraged to grow as followers of Jesus Christ. Through Bible study, fellowship, and shared experiences, we seek to build authentic relationships and strengthen one another in faith. Our desire is to equip men to lead with integrity, serve with humility, and live out their calling at home, at work, and in the community—becoming the men God has called them to be.
Our Methodist men have a community men’s breakfast with inspirational speakers and great Christian fellowship every month in addition to our once a year, 40 year tradition (in 2026) of our Men’s Family Banquet, held at the school gymnasium with an average attendance of 200 in attendance from all surrounding communities, faiths and people of all ages
Women’s Ministry at Arcadia Methodist Church is a welcoming community where women can grow in their relationship with Jesus and with one another. Through Bible study, prayer, and meaningful fellowship, we encourage and equip women to live out their faith with strength, grace, and purpose. Our heart is to create a space where women are supported, encouraged, and empowered to follow Christ faithfully in every season of life. Women have opportunities to get involved also, in crafting and community service.
There are great options for adults of all ages to get plugged in at Arcadia Methodist Church.
Bible Studies at Arcadia Methodist Church are for those seeking deeper learning, including studies hosted during the Lenten and Advent seasons. There is a wonderful opportunity to develop even more small group Bible studies within our church family in the future too.
Community and Special Events:
We are deeply woven into the fabric of our town through Community and Special Events. We host beloved traditions like our Palm Sunday donkey walk and Christmas Caroling. We proudly support the community Vacation Bible School and host the Community Sunrise Service on Easter. Our accessible facilities frequently host important community events like the local high school’s prom dinner, and we enjoy strong, positive relationships with other area churches.
Service
Serving Ministry at Arcadia Methodist Church is a living expression of our faith in action—reaching beyond our walls to serve locally, statewide, nationally, and around the world. Each year, youth and adults come together for a mission trip focused on going where the need is greatest, stepping into communities to be the hands and feet of Christ through compassion, service, and the sharing of His love.
Mission Team: Our dedicated Mission Team is a testament to our desire to serve beyond our local area. This construction crew consisting of up to 50 people traveling by hired motorcoach travels across the U.S., providing vital assistance, especially after natural disasters. What began after Hurricane Katrina has become a wonderful multi-generational opportunity for those 13 and older to help rebuild and build relationships in different communities through one or two trips each year.
We believe that serving others is central to following Jesus, as He reminds us: “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40).
Through these opportunities, we not only meet real needs but also grow in faith, unity, and purpose—living out the Gospel in tangible ways.
